Q&A
A: This tour is great for kids! It's designed for all ages, but I'd recommend it for kids 8 and up. They’ll love the stories about geothermal features, and the hike to the Grand Prismatic Overlook is pretty manageable for most families. Just keep an eye on them near the water and slopes, and make sure they have good shoes.
A: You can technically do the tour in winter, but be prepared for snow and ice on the trails! The Grand Prismatic Spring looks stunning in winter, but access can be limited. It's best to check road and trail conditions before heading out. Layer up, and just be careful!
A: If you take it slow and stop to enjoy the views and listen to all the stories, you could easily spend 2-3 hours on the trail. It's perfect for a leisurely hike since you can pause wherever you want! Just make sure to check the sunset time if you’re planning to stay late.

Thinking of gifting the audio walking tour to my parents
Hey all! I’m thinking of getting the self-guided audio walking tour to the Grand Prismatic for my parents' anniversary. They love hiking and this sounds perfect for them! Just wondering how the audio works – I know it’s GPS-based, but does it really stop automatically at points of interest? Also, any tips on good spots for photos?
Just did the Grand Prismatic tour! What an experience!
Wow, I just did the self-guided tour and it was AMAZING! The audio stories were so interesting, especially about the geysers and the park’s history. The colors of the Grand Prismatic Spring were even better in person than I imagined. I went in the late afternoon, so the lighting was incredible for photos. Highly recommend it if you’re on the fence!
