Q&A
A: I did the tour in late spring and it was perfect! The weather was nice, and the streets were less crowded. Winter can be pretty cold, and if it snows, some of the paths might be slippery. I’d recommend planning for late spring or early fall when it’s mild but not too hot either.
A: Absolutely! The tour is self-paced, so you can take breaks whenever you need. Beacon Hill has some steep streets, but it's manageable. Just wear comfortable shoes and take your time. It’s more about soaking in the history than racing through.
A: Yeah, I was worried about that too, but the WalknTours app is pretty user-friendly. Just download it, pick your tour, and follow the prompts. Plus, you can replay sections if you want to hear something again. It’s great that you can do it all on your own terms!

Just did the Underground Railroad tour in Beacon Hill, and wow!
I took the self-guided tour last weekend and it was such an eye-opening experience. The app was really straightforward, and I loved how I could explore at my own pace. The stories about the hiding spots and brave individuals were so powerful. Definitely wear comfy shoes though because the cobblestones are uneven! Highly recommend it as a gift for anyone interested in history.
Thinking about gifting the Boston Underground Railroad tour!
My friend loves history, and I think this would be a perfect gift! I’m a bit worried about the weather though. If it rains, do you think the app still works well? Is it worth it?
