Q&A
A: The tour is generally suitable for kids, but it might depend on their comfort level with spooky stories. Younger kids might not grasp the historical context, but older kids and teens usually find it fun! Just keep in mind that some of the ghost stories can be a bit intense, so maybe preview the content first.
A: Fall is definitely the best time! The cool weather and leaves changing just add to the spooky vibe. Winter can be chilly, but if you're bundled up, it can still be fun! Just keep in mind it gets dark early, so you’ll want to start the tour before sunset.
A: You’ll need to download the WalknTours app before you go. It’s pretty straightforward! The app guides you with GPS, and you can play audio as you reach different points of interest. Make sure your phone is charged, though—you don’t want to run out of battery midway!

Just did the haunted walking tour in Portsmouth—so spooky!
I went on the self-guided haunted walking tour last weekend, and it was a blast! I was a bit nervous, but the app made it super easy to follow along. The stories about the John Paul Jones House and the Old Red Light District were wild! I even tried using the EMF reader, but sadly didn’t catch any ghosts on camera. Still, my friends and I had a great time exploring the area. Anyone else done it? What were your favorite spots?
Thinking of gifting the haunted walking tour to my brother!
I'm considering this haunted walking tour for my brother's birthday. He loves ghost stories and Portsmouth is like his second home. I read somewhere that you can go at your own pace, which is awesome because he typically likes to take his time. Anyone know if it’s hard to navigate if you're not tech-savvy?
