Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kayaking with kids? My 8-year-old wants to come!

A: No age limit! Kids of all ages are welcome, but I recommend checking with the provider for any specific safety gear requirements. The kayaks are pretty stable, so as long as your child can swim, they should have a blast. Plus, it’s a great chance to explore those tidal pools together!

Q: What should we wear for the kayaking trip? Any recommendations?

A: Wear a swimsuit and a rash guard if you have one. It gets hot out there, but you’ll want something comfortable that dries quickly. Don’t forget water shoes or sandals that can get wet! And definitely bring sunscreen since you’ll be out in the sun.

Q: Can we reschedule if the weather is bad? My friends are all really picky about the sun.

A: Yes, you can reschedule if the weather isn’t looking good! It's best to contact them directly to discuss options. They prioritize safety, so they won’t take you out if conditions are unsafe. I had to reschedule once, and they were super accommodating!

Just booked the Self-Guided Kayaking Discovery in Kailua! So excited!

Hey everyone! I just got the Self-Guided Kayaking Discovery experience for my family while we’re in Oahu next month. We’re planning to hit the Mokulua Islands and check out those tide pools! I’ve heard the beach chairs and boogie boards included are a nice touch too. Any tips for first-timers? Also, how’s the parking situation there?

Anyone else love kayaking in Kailua? Need your stories!

I did the Self-Guided Kayaking experience last month, and it was pure bliss! The water was so clear, and we explored some hidden beaches. I loved that we could go at our own pace. Perfect for relaxing. Anyone got recommendations for snorkeling spots around the islands?
