Q&A

Q: What should we wear for the self-guided kayaking tour? Is it safe for beginners?

A: Definitely wear something comfortable and quick-drying! I'd recommend a swimsuit or athletic wear, plus a hat and sunscreen since you'll be out in the sun. It's very safe for beginners—just stick to the easy route they provide, and you'll be fine. Plus, the staff at Paddle Jax are super helpful if you need any tips on technique.

Q: What if the weather is bad on the day we booked?

A: If the weather’s really bad, Paddle Jax will usually contact you to reschedule. They’re pretty flexible, so you shouldn't worry. Just keep an eye on the forecast leading up to your day, and you can always check in with them for updates!

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on this kayak tour? Looking to take my 10-year-old!

A: There’s no hard age limit for kids, but as long as your child can follow directions and wear a life vest, they should be fine! It’s a pretty chill paddle, perfect for families. Just keep an eye on them and make sure they feel comfortable in the kayak.

Thinking of gifting a self-guided kayak tour for my friend's birthday!

I'm really excited about this self-guided kayaking adventure in Jacksonville, especially since it's such a beautiful area near Amelia Island. It's just 2 hours long and I love that it's private. I think my friend would appreciate the calmness of the black water creek. Has anyone done this? Any tips for a first-time kayaker?

Recent experience kayaking on Amelia Island - so peaceful!

I just got back from the self-guided kayaking tour, and wow, what a lovely way to spend the afternoon! The black water creek is so serene. They provide everything you need, including bottled water, which was nice. I can’t recommend this enough if you’re looking for a chill outdoor activity.
