A: The surf lessons are perfect for all ages! Kids can absolutely join, and we recommend starting at around age 5. The instructors are great with families and will ensure everyone has a safe and fun time. Just make sure to check if the kids are comfortable in the water.
A: Yes! Hook Up Surfing is really flexible with weather cancellations. If it’s unsafe to surf, they’ll help you find another time to fit your schedule. Just make sure to give them a call ahead of time to reschedule!
A: You’ll want to wear a swimsuit for sure since you’ll be in the water. Hook Up Surfing provides rash guards, which are great for sun protection and comfort. Also, don’t forget sunscreen and maybe a water shirt if you want extra coverage. Flip-flops or water shoes are good for getting to the beach!

Looking to book Oahu surf lessons as a gift – any tips?
I’m thinking about getting my sister and her husband a semi-private surf lesson on Oahu with Hook Up Surfing. They’ve never surfed before, so I want to make sure it’s a good choice! They’ll be on the island for a week in November. Would this be fun for first-timers? Any advice on what they should wear or bring?
Just did surf lessons at Hook Up Surfing - here’s my take!
Wow, my partner and I just finished a surf lesson in Oahu and it was incredible! The instructors were super chill and made everything easy to understand. I was pretty nervous since I hadn’t surfed before, but they were really encouraging! We used both long and shortboards. Definitely worth every penny! We even got some great photos too.
