Q&A
A: Definitely layer up! Even in summer, it can get chilly on the water in Alaska. I'd recommend wearing waterproof jackets and pants and bringing warm hats and gloves. The fishing guides usually have a good sense of the weather, so they'll guide you on what to wear right before you head out. Trust me, it makes a big difference!
A: Kids are totally welcome! There’s no strict age limit, but they should be able to sit still and listen to instructions from the guide. It’s a great experience for families. Just be sure to check with Hooked Adventures in advance to confirm any specific requirements they might have for younger kids.
A: Hooked Adventures is pretty flexible with rescheduling! If you need to cancel or change your date, just give them a call at least 48 hours ahead, and they'll help you out. Weather can be unpredictable, but they keep a close eye on conditions and will let you know if they need to cancel. I had to reschedule once, and it was no hassle at all.

Just booked the Shared Fishing Adventure in Hoonah!
I’m so pumped! Just got my family tickets for the fishing trip with Hooked Adventures next month. I can’t wait to see the humpback whales while we fish! Fishing gear and water included sounds perfect for us. We don’t have much experience fishing, but it looks like the guide will help us. Anyone have tips for first-timers?
Has anyone seen whales while fishing in Icy Strait?
I’m considering booking the fishing adventure in Hoonah, but I really want to see whales! How often does that happen, and is it worth it? Also, how close do you get? Just trying to figure out if it’s gonna be fun for the whole family.
