Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on the Shell Key Tour?

A: No specific age limit, but kids should be able to paddle on their own or sit comfortably in a tandem kayak with an adult. Capt. Yak is great with families, and he adapts the tour a lot for younger paddlers! Just make sure they're ready for some fun in the sun and a bit of wildlife spotting!

Q: What should I wear for the kayak tour?

A: Definitely wear a swimsuit or quick-dry clothes! Don't forget a hat and sunglasses too. You'll be out in the sun for a few hours. Water shoes are great since you'll likely get wet while paddling. And bring a towel for afterwards!

Q: What if the weather turns bad and we have to reschedule?

A: Capt. Yak is really flexible with rescheduling in case of bad weather. If it’s unsafe to go out, he’ll work with you to find another time that works. Just keep an eye on the forecast and reach out if it looks iffy!

Just did the Shell Key Tour with Capt. Yak - Amazing experience!

I took my family on the Shell Key Tour last weekend and it was seriously one of the best outings we’ve had! Capt. Yak is super knowledgeable about the mangroves and we saw so much wildlife, like manatees and tons of birds. The kayaks were really comfy too, which made it so much easier for my kids. Highly recommend it for families!

Considering gifting the Shell Key Tour - any thoughts?

I’m thinking about getting the Shell Key Tour for my boyfriend’s birthday. He loves kayaking but hasn’t tried it in a mangrove setting. Is it fun for someone who’s done a lot of kayaking before? What’s the vibe like?
