Q&A

Q: Are there any age restrictions for the whale watching tour?

A: There aren’t any strict age restrictions. Families with kids are definitely welcome! Just keep in mind that younger kids might need a little extra supervision on the boat. Also, the tour lasts a couple of hours, so if they get restless easily, plan accordingly.

Q: What's the best time of year for whale watching in Sitka?

A: The prime whale watching season is from late May to early September. During this time, you can spot Humpback whales as they come to feed, and it's also easier to see sea otters and sea lions. If you can, go in July for the best chances of seeing a variety of wildlife!

Q: What should I wear for the whale watching tour?

A: Dress in layers! It can get chilly out on the water, so a waterproof jacket is a must. Also, wear comfortable shoes since you'll be moving around the boat. Don't forget a hat and sunscreen, even if it looks cloudy!
