Combine sightseeing and river rafting on this relaxing Skagway shore excursion. Enjoy a beautiful 10-mile (16-km) drive along the coast to the Dyea Valley, an old Gold Rush settlement rich with history. On the drive, you may spot seals, eagles and other wildlife (however wildlife sightings are not guaranteed). See the start of the famous Chilkoot Trail, where thousands journeyed in pursuit of gold in 1898. Gear up with lifejackets, rubber boots, and rain ponchos (if necessary) for the peaceful (approx. 40 minute) float through lush coastal forest with mountain views. Enjoy nature away from the crowds in a beautiful Alaskan setting.

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on this river float tour?

Q: What should I wear for the river float tour?

A: Dress in layers! It can get chilly on the water. You'll want to wear quick-drying clothes and bring a light jacket. The tour provides rubber boots and life jackets, but if you're worried about getting wet, wear something waterproof.

Just did the Scenic River Float Tour in Skagway—so worth it!

I just got back from the Skagway River Float Tour, and oh my goodness, it was amazing! The drive along the coast to Dyea Valley was beautiful, and we even saw a few eagles! The float itself was so relaxing, surrounded by gorgeous mountains and trees. The guides were super friendly and made it fun, even though the float was chill. Definitely recommend it for a gift or just for yourself!

Looking to gift this experience! Any opinions?

I’m thinking about gifting the Scenic River Float Tour for my parents’ anniversary. They love nature, but my dad’s not super adventurous. Do you think this would be good for them? Can anyone share their experience?
