As the leaders in the industry we feel it is our duty to have all our activities conducted by professionals. Our Manatee snorkel tours are guided by USCG Captain as well as a licensed and insured dive professional. Our in water professionals are trained as first responders, with First aid, CPR, AED administration and in-water rescue training. Captain and guides are also trained in manatee manners, through the Manatee Eco Tourism Association in coordination with United States Fish and Wildlife Service. The training allows us to lead the industry by operating the saftest tours on the water for our guest and manatees alike.

Q&A

Q: What's the best time of year to go for the manatee swim?

A: The best time to swim with manatees in Crystal River is from November to March. That's when they're most abundant in the springs. Water temperatures drop, and the manatees come in for the warm waters. Just keep in mind that weekends can get busy, so if you can go during the week, you might have a more peaceful experience.

Q: Are there age limits for kids on this manatee swim tour?

A: Yes! The age limit for the manatee swim is usually around 5 years old, but it can vary by tour provider. It's best to check with Manatee Swim Center directly. They usually allow younger kids if they're comfortable in the water and have adult supervision, so don't hesitate to reach out to them for specifics!

Q: What should we wear? Is it cold in the water?

A: You’ll get full 5mm wetsuits provided by the tour, which are great for keeping you warm! Underneath, I suggest wearing a swimsuit or something comfortable that you can move in. As for the weather, it can get breezy, so consider bringing a light jacket for after the swim as well. Just check the forecast—if it’s rainy or super windy, they might cancel or reschedule.

Just booked the manatee swim in Crystal River!

I'm super excited! I got this as a gift for my partner's birthday. We’re going in late January. I heard the water’s cold but the wetsuits really help. Any tips on what to expect or how to make the most of the experience?

Has anyone done the manatee swim recently?

I’m considering this for my kids, but I want to know how it went for others! Is it safe and fun for younger kids? I’ve heard mixed reviews about swimming with wildlife.
