This 7-hour tour begins with a trip to Montpelier, Vermont’s capital city—the smallest and least populous state capital in the nation. There, we will enjoy a guided tour of the Vermont State House*, led by a dedicated guide who will share its history and answer questions. *Guided tours in the Vermont State House are only available from early July through October. The building is closed for visitors on Saturdays and Sundays. Our weekend tours will therefore admire the state house from outside, then explore downtown Montpelier by foot. While in Montpelier, we will also visit the family-run Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks for a maple syrup tasting. Next we will drive scenic VT RT 100 to the villages of Waitsfield and Warren. Popular attractions include an 1833 covered bridge ("The Big Eddy") and Appalachian Gap. Lunch is available for purchase at the Warren Store, a uniquely Vermont experience with great local food. The Warren Store features its own deli, bakery, wine shop, and gift store.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on this tour?

A: There’s no strict age limit, but I’d say it's best for kids ages 7 and up. Younger ones might get bored with the history stuff in Montpelier, but the maple syrup tasting is a hit with all ages! Just keep in mind that the vehicle does have limited space for car seats if you need them.

Q: What happens if the weather is bad? Do they cancel?

A: They usually go unless it’s really dangerous, like heavy snow or storms. If they do have to cancel, you’ll be notified and can reschedule or get a refund. It’s always good to check the forecast a few days in advance!

Q: How is parking at the meeting point? Is it easy to get to?

A: There’s usually street parking near the meeting point in Stowe, but it can fill up quickly during peak times. I’d recommend getting there a bit early to find a spot. Plus, you can grab a coffee in Stowe while you wait!

Just booked the Montpelier & Mad River Valley tour!

I'm so excited! I got this as a gift for my parents who are visiting Vermont next month. They love history and local food. The maple syrup tasting at Morse Farm sounds perfect! Does anyone have tips on what to wear for the tour? Also, is there a good place to grab lunch nearby?

Thinking about gifting this tour to my sister!

My sister's birthday is coming up and she loves exploring new places. This Montpelier & Mad River Valley tour sounds amazing with the history and the scenic drive. Anyone know if they can accommodate dietary restrictions at the lunch spot?
