Q: What should I wear for the waterfall rappel? Is it muddy?

A: Definitely wear moisture-wicking clothes and don’t forget your swimsuit underneath! The area can get pretty muddy, especially after rain, so water shoes (tabis) are super helpful – they provide good grip. I also recommend bringing a waterproof phone case for photos since you'll be near the waterfalls!

Q: Is this experience safe for kids? What’s the age limit?

A: Yes, this experience is family-friendly! Kids as young as 10 can participate, but they need to be at least 70 pounds to rappel safely. I took my 12-year-old, and we had an amazing time. Just make sure they're comfortable with heights!

Q: What if it rains? Will the rappel still happen?

A: They have a weather policy in place. If it’s pouring rain, the instructors will assess the conditions. They'll reschedule if it's unsafe. Just keep an eye on the weather before your trip! When we went, it rained earlier in the day, but it cleared up perfectly by our session.

Just got back from the Small Group Waterfall Rappel in Lihue, and wow! Rappelling down those 60-foot Papakolea Falls was just insane. The views were breathtaking, and the guides were super chill. Make sure you bring a waterproof case for your phone because you’re gonna want to capture every moment! Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Kauai.
