From the historically diverse communities to cosmopolitan hot spots, the West and East Villages, Lower East Side, Bowery, and SoHo have a fascinating history captured by the area’s architecture. During this tour, we discover this history by looking at some of the defining architectural typologies of these neighborhoods including the cast iron industrial spaces of Soho and tenement apartments of the LES as well stand-out contemporary buildings such as the New Museum by SANAA, Prada flagship boutique by Rem Koolhas, and Copper Union by Morphosis. We'll also visit Washington Square and some of the NYU buildings in the area.

Q&A

Q: What should I wear for the SoHo and the Village architecture tour? Is it mostly walking?

A: Definitely wear comfortable shoes since you'll be walking quite a bit! The tour covers several neighborhoods, so expect to be on your feet for most of it. Layering is also a good idea since NYC weather can change quickly. I usually go with a light jacket or sweater in case it gets chilly.

Q: Is this tour suitable for kids? What's the age limit?

A: The tour is generally suitable for older kids who can handle some walking and appreciate architecture. There's no strict age limit, but I'd say kids over 10 would get the most out of it. It can be a great way to introduce them to NYC's history!

Q: Can you reschedule if something comes up? How flexible is this tour?

A: Yes, you can reschedule the tour if you give them enough notice. I believe it's about 48 hours in advance. Just reach out to their customer service, and they’ll help you find a new date that works. Super easy process!

Thinking of gifting the SoHo architecture tour! Anyone done it?

Hey everyone! I’m considering getting the SoHo and the Village architecture tour for my friend’s birthday. I’ve heard great things about the historical sites and the architecture. Does anyone know how long the tour typically lasts? Also, is it easy to navigate the starting point? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Just did the SoHo tour, and it was AMAZING!

I finally went on the SoHo and the Village architecture tour last week, and wow! Our guide was super knowledgeable, and it was so cool to see the mix of old and modern buildings. The headsets were really clear too, which helped a lot. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something unique in NYC!
