Q&A
A: Kids are definitely welcome! As long as they're supervised by an adult, they can join in on the fun. Just keep in mind that the desert can be a bit tough for younger ones, so make sure they can handle a short hike. It’s a great way to introduce them to nature and survival skills!
A: The fall and spring are the best times to enjoy the Sonoran Desert. Temperatures are more moderate, and the wildflowers are stunning. I went in early October, and it was perfect! Just avoid the summer heat if you can.
A: Wear layers! The desert can get chilly in the evening, so it’s smart to dress in layers that you can adjust. Sturdy shoes are a must since you’ll be walking over rocky terrain. And don’t forget a hat and sunscreen, even if it’s cooler. Better safe than sorry!

Just did the Sonoran Desert hike - What an experience!
I recently took the Sonoran Desert Hike with Wild Foods and Survival Skills, and it was amazing! Our guide was super knowledgeable and shared so many cool facts about the desert ecosystem. We even learned how to start a fire by friction! There were about 10 of us, and we got to try some wild edible plants too. The sunset views were breathtaking. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique outdoor adventure in Tucson!
Considering the Sonoran Desert Hike as a gift. Thoughts?
I’m thinking about gifting the Sonoran Desert Hike to my adventurous sister for her birthday. She loves the outdoors and is always looking for new experiences. Has anyone done this? What’s the survival skills part like? I want to make sure it’s not just a walk in the park. Any insights would be awesome!
