Q&A
A: Definitely wear layers! It can get a bit chilly on the water, especially if it's windy. A light jacket or a sweatshirt is a good idea. Also, don't forget sunglasses and sunscreen since you're out in the sun for a while. Comfortable shoes matter too since you'll be moving around the boat!
A: You’re pretty much guaranteed a sighting! If you don't see any whales, you can go again for free. The experience is fantastic because of the hydrophones too; hearing their songs is absolute magic. Plus, the naturalists really know their stuff and make it super interesting!
A: Absolutely! The onboard Jr. Naturalist Program is designed for kids and makes it really engaging for them. I'd say it’s great for kids ages 5 and up. They’ll have fun learning about the whales in a way that’s super interactive. Just make sure they can handle a couple of hours on a boat!

Has anyone done the Sound of the Ocean Whale Watch Sail?
Just booked this experience for my partner's birthday while we’re in Maui next month! I’m super excited about hearing the whale songs through the hydrophones. It sounds so unique and I’ve heard great things about the naturalists on board. Can anyone share tips on what the best viewing spots on the boat are?
Considering the whale watch sail as a gift!
I’m thinking about gifting the Sound of the Ocean Whale Watch Sail experience to my parents. They love nature and have never been on a whale-watching trip before. Is it better for them to go on a morning trip or an afternoon one? Any recommendations?
