Q&A
A: No specific age limit for this tour! It's suitable for all ages, but keep in mind that younger kids might not appreciate the history as much. Just make sure they can walk around for about an hour. Strollers aren't recommended due to the uneven paths, so bring a carrier if needed!
A: You can only visit St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 with a guide! It's part of the preservation efforts. The guides share fascinating stories about the tombs and the historical figures buried there, so it's worth it. The fee for the tour is usually around $20, but it's free on certain days through Basin St. Station.
A: Definitely go for casual and comfy! The paths can be uneven, so I’d recommend wearing sneakers or comfy walking shoes. Also, be mindful of the weather—an umbrella is great if rain is in the forecast. Loose clothing is ideal since it can get warm walking between the tombs. Bring sunscreen if it’s sunny!

Just did the St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 tour and it was amazing!
I went on the official walking tour of St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 last week and wow, it was so worth it! Our guide was super knowledgeable and shared awesome stories about Marie Laveau and other famous residents. There’s this tomb that’s literally plastered with X's from visitors leaving marks. Totally a must-see if you’re in New Orleans! And it’s free on certain days, which is a great bonus!
Thinking of gifting the cemetery tour for my history buff friend!
I’m considering getting the St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 tour as a gift for my friend who's really into history and ghost stories. I think they’d love the tales about Marie Laveau! Has anyone given this as a gift before? Any tips on how to make it extra special?
