The Jungle Prada Site History Tour is a historian-led walking tour of a private seaside garden and featuring the best-preserved American Indian mound in Tampa Bay. The Jungle Prada Site Complex is also thought to be the landing place of the 1528 expedition led by Pánfilo de Narváez, the survivors of which walked from Florida all the way to the Pacific Ocean (1528 – 1536). The privately-owned Anderson Mound has been lovingly preserved by members of the Anderson family for over 80 years. You’ll meet wild peacocks, discover native plants used by the Tocobaga people, and explore a side of St. Petersburg, Florida you never knew existed! Safety Statement: Due to the historic nature of the property some surfaces are uneven. Please watch your step and use caution on the paths. Other potential risks include all those that naturally arise from walking through heavily wooded or natural areas.

Q&A

Q: Are there age limits for kids on this tour? Would it be good for my 10-year-old?

A: The tour is generally suitable for all ages, including kids! A 10-year-old would likely enjoy it, especially with the peacocks and learning about the Tocobaga people. Just keep in mind that some paths might be a bit uneven, so supervision would be important.

A: There’s parking available on-site, which makes it super easy! Just arrive a bit early, though, especially on weekends, as it can get busy. The location is pretty accessible, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding it.

Just did the Jungle Prada Tour! Amazing experience!

I went on the Jungle Prada Site History Tour last weekend, and wow, it was fantastic! The historian really brought the history to life. I loved seeing the peacocks roaming around and getting to learn about the Tocobaga culture right there in the garden. The Anderson Mound is something else—it felt like stepping back in time. Definitely recommend it as a gift for history buffs or nature lovers!
