Q&A

Q: How easy is it to find parking near the Wailua River for paddle rental?

A: Parking at Wailua River is pretty straightforward. There’s a lot right by the launch area, and it usually has plenty of spots, but it can fill up on weekends. Just get there early! If you’re going on a weekday, you shouldn’t have any issues at all.

Q: What’s the age limit for kids to join in on the paddle rental?

A: Kids can definitely join! Generally, they recommend at least 6 years old for SUP. All kids under 12 should wear a life vest, which is provided. It’s a great way to spend time together as a family in the beautiful Wailua River!

Q: What should we wear for paddle boarding on Wailua River?

A: Wear something comfortable that you don’t mind getting wet. A swimsuit and a quick-dry shirt work great. Sandals are fine, but non-slip water shoes are even better. Don't forget sunscreen and a hat!

Just did the stand-up paddle rental on Wailua River and loved it!

I recently rented some stand-up paddle boards from Kauai SUP and we paddled to Secret Falls. The staff was super helpful and gave us a map and some great tips. The views along the river were stunning, and the falls at the end were totally worth it! We also packed a lunch and enjoyed it at the falls. Just make sure to wear good shoes for the hike back!

Looking to gift a paddle rental experience! Recommendations?

I’m thinking of gifting this stand-up paddle rental experience for my boyfriend's birthday. He loves the outdoors and I’ve heard Wailua River is beautiful. Do you think it’s good for someone who's never paddled before? What’s the vibe like? Any tips for first-timers?
