From our Kremmling outpost, stand up paddleboard down the Colorado River. You’ll stand up or kneel on a surfboard-shaped board and steer with a long paddle as you navigate the river's milder flow. This section of the Upper Colorado River through Little Gore Canyon is the perfect spot to test your abilities with the combination of Class II riffles and flat water creating a bit of a challenge. You will also have the opportunity to go for a swim and stop for sunbathing and relaxing! Kids or others in your party also have the option to raft or steer an inflatable kayak, with opportunities for everyone to try something new.

Q&A

Q: Can anyone tell me if there are age restrictions for the paddleboarding excursion?

A: Yes, there are some age restrictions! Generally, kids as young as 8 can participate, but it's best to check with AVA Rafting directly. They offer inflatable kayaks, which can be great for younger kids or those not quite ready for paddleboarding. Just make sure everyone knows how to swim, since there's a chance you might take a dip in the river!

Q: What should we wear for the paddleboarding? Is it cold in October?

A: In October, the river can be pretty chilly, so I'd recommend wearing layers! You'll get a wetsuit and splash jacket if needed, but underneath you might want a swimsuit or quick-dry clothes. Make sure to bring a hat and sunscreen too, even if it's chilly, as the sun can be strong. And don't forget water shoes if you have them!

Q: What if the weather's bad on the day we booked? Can we reschedule?

A: If the weather looks bad, AVA Rafting usually allows for rescheduling. It's best to call them the day before to check if conditions are safe. They'll have your best interest in mind! Usually, they prefer to avoid having guests out in unsafe conditions, so you should be okay to find another date if needed.

Thinking of gifting the paddleboard excursion — anyone done it?

My sister’s birthday is coming up, and I’m thinking about getting her this Stand-Up Paddleboard Half-Day Excursion from Kremmling. I’ve heard great things about the Colorado River! I know there’s a chance for swimming and relaxing, which she’d love. Has anyone tried this? Any tips?

Anyone know about parking for the paddleboard trip?

I’m planning to go to the Stand-Up Paddleboard excursion soon and I’m a bit worried about parking at the Kremmling outpost. Is it easy to find a spot? Also, how long does the whole thing usually take?
