Learn the basics of stand-up paddle boarding on land before launching at Mere Point in Brunswick for a leisurely 2.5 hour morning tour of Northwest Casco Bay! We will paddle out to a demonstration oyster farm and then to an island to shuck and enjoy a complimentary tasting of the sweet and briny fresh Maine oysters. Stand-up paddle boarding is a great, fun way to sight see from the water. We are likely to see cormorants, sea gulls, osprey, great blue herons, snowy egrets, ducks, and we might see fish jumping or a seal.  Paddlers at least 12 years old will love exploring Casco Bay in this protected, scenic, historic area! There will be a break on land where we will stretch, taste the oysters and have some snacks that you bring.

Q: What's the age limit for this paddleboard tour? Can younger kids join?

A: The tour is specifically for paddlers at least 12 years old, so younger kids can't join. If you have a 12+ teen, they'll have a blast! Just make sure they’re comfortable in the water and can commit to the 2.5-hour tour. Also, it's a good idea to check with them about their interest in oysters!

Q: What should I wear for the paddleboarding part? Is it cold?

A: Dress in layers because mornings can be a bit chilly on the water, but you'll warm up once you start paddling. A swimsuit or quick-dry clothing is great, and don't forget water shoes or sandals! A hat and sunscreen are a must since you’ll be out on the water for a bit. They'll provide life jackets too, so you don’t need to worry about that.

Q: If the weather’s bad, do they reschedule or cancel? How does that work?

A: Yes, they do reschedule if the weather isn't safe for paddling. Alices Awesome Adventures will reach out to you a day or two before if they think conditions aren't ideal. They’re really good about keeping you updated. Just make sure to provide a good contact number!

Paddleboard and oyster tasting was a hit!

Just got back from the paddleboard tour and it was incredible! The scenery in Casco Bay is breathtaking, and we saw seals and so many birds! The oyster tasting was the highlight for me. If you’re thinking about gifting this, do it! Just make sure they can paddle for the whole 2.5 hours. A great morning!
