Q&A
A: There isn't a strict age limit for kids, but the ferry and the islands are great for children of all ages! Just keep in mind that younger kids might get tired walking around the museums and grounds. Also, it can get crowded, so make sure to keep an eye on them. Overall, it’s a fantastic family experience.
A: If the weather is really bad, the ferry might be canceled. It’s best to check their official site for updates. You can also reschedule your tickets, so keep that in mind! Just make sure you’re looking at the forecast a few days before your trip.
A: It really depends on your pace! Most people spend about 3-4 hours total, maybe 1.5-2 hours on Liberty Island and the rest on Ellis Island. The audio guides are really informative, so plan for a bit of time to enjoy everything. If you want to grab lunch, factor that into your schedule too!

Thinking of gifting the Statue of Liberty tour—any tips?
I’m considering getting this ferry experience as a gift for my sister and her kids. They’ve never been to NYC! I love that it’s self-guided so they can explore at their own pace. Has anyone done this recently? How was the audio tour? Did they enjoy it? I’m trying to make it a memorable trip for them.
Just did the ferry experience, and wow!
I went on the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island tour last week. It was one of the best things I’ve done in NYC! The audio guide made the history come alive, and I spent way too long in the Ellis Island museum. Seriously, if you’re thinking of gifting this, do it! It’s such a rich experience.
