Travel through four of Portland’s quadrants, and explore 8 to 10 of the city’s unique districts by foot and our European-style streetcar. Stroll, taste, see and learn about what makes Portland so special, with accompaniment of a passionate local, and 2.5–4 miles of slow-paced walking (4–7 km). Starting at Director Park at the edge of the Cultural District in Portland, we will begin our exploration with short streetcar segments interspersed by leisurely walks through several districts. Learn about the Art Museum, visit the Pearl District, explore the historically industrial Slabtown. See the mural district and the space-age buildings in the South Waterfront and into the University District. Walk park blocks and fountains that made the name for Portland’s urban planning, and also brought us into conflict over racial and cultural ideals. Explore how Portland’s activist spirit has challenged its government and structures, before returning you to the center of the city, Pioneer Square.

Q&A

Q: What should I wear for the Streetcar tour? Is it mostly walking?

A: Comfortable walking shoes are a must since you'll be doing about 2.5 to 4 miles of walking, and we all know Portland's weather can be unpredictable. Dress in layers, too, as it can warm up or cool down quickly. If it's raining, a light waterproof jacket is a good idea. Enjoy the views!

Q: How often does the streetcar run? Can you hop on and off?

A: The streetcar runs regularly, but it’s best to check the schedule for the day of your tour. You can hop on and off during the tour, but keep in mind that the guided parts of the tour will be set, so you'll want to stick with the group for those. It's a great way to explore different areas while learning about them!

Q: Is this tour suitable for kids? What’s the age limit?

A: Yes, the tour is definitely family-friendly! There’s no specific age limit, but younger kids may tire out during the walking portion. The guide makes it interesting for all ages, so it can be a fun learning experience for the whole family. Just be prepared for some walking - and maybe bring a stroller for the little ones!

Thinking about gifting the Streetcar Tour in Portland!

Hey everyone, I'm considering buying the Streetcar around Portland tour for my parents' anniversary. They love exploring the city and this seems like a fun way to do it! I read it covers neighborhoods like the Pearl and Slabtown, plus it includes streetcar fare. Has anyone done this? Any tips or thoughts on it?

Anyone else obsessed with Portland's murals?

Just got back from the Streetcar tour and wow, the murals are incredible! We explored the mural district and got to see so much art. The guide shared stories behind the pieces which made it even cooler. Is there a specific spot you all recommend checking out? I'm definitely going back!
