We will visit at least four locations for photography in iconic Arches National Park for the afternoon golden hour and sunset. I have traveled extensively in search of amazing photographic locations, and it is hard to beat Arches National Park for the wide variety of photographic locations, and it is an official international Dark Skies park. During the busy season, I will lead the tour to locations that are less well known but still spectacular. I will show you great locations, and make suggestions on composition and subject matter. I can even help you with your camera settings if you are a beginner. After sunset. we will take a brief break for a picnic and go over camera settings for night photography while we wait for the Milky Way to emerge. (Note: in April & May, the Milky Way does not appear until after midnight, so we will return to Moab after sunset, and head back out late at night. A wee hours tour is available as a standalone tour during this time).

Q&A

Q: How long does the tour last, and is there an age limit for participants?

A: The tour typically lasts around 4-5 hours, including a picnic break after sunset. There’s no strict age limit, but kids should be able to walk a bit and enjoy the night sky. Just make sure they're cool with the late-night aspect if you go for the Milky Way viewing!

Q: What should I wear for this photography tour? Any tips?

A: Layering is key! It can get pretty chilly after sunset in Moab, so I'd suggest wearing a base layer and bringing a warm jacket. Good walking shoes are a must since you’ll be hiking to different spots. Also, don't forget a hat and sunscreen for the day!

Q: Is the night photography part suitable for beginners? What if I don't have a fancy camera?

A: Absolutely! The guide is really helpful and can assist with camera settings, even on basic cameras. You don’t need a pro setup to enjoy the experience. Just bring your camera, and a willingness to learn. Plus, the Milky Way views are magical!

Thinking about gifting the sunset and night photography tour in Arches!

Hey everyone! I'm considering this photography tour in Arches National Park as a gift for my best friend. We both love photography, and this seems like such a unique experience! I read that they cover some lesser-known spots, which is cool. Just wondering if anyone has done it before? How was the night sky viewing?

Just did the sunset and night photography tour last week!

Wow, what an experience! The guide really knows the park well. We visited four different locations, and the sunset was just breathtaking. The night photography tips helped me a ton, even though I'm just a beginner. The picnic was a nice touch too! I'd totally recommend it.
