We will teach you all the basic surf knowledge. Our school uses a unique technique which helps you learn how to stand up on a surfboard in less than two hours, even if you are a complete beginner. You do not have to wait weeks to successfully stand on a surfboard. We cover everything you need to know to become a surfer in two hours. The first half hour is spent on land discussing the ins and outs of surf technique where you will learn the basic rules and surf safety. The remainder of the time is spent in the water with your instructor and later you can practice by yourself. By your very first lesson, you’ll be riding waves and feeling the joy that surfing brings! We offer the best value beginner surfing lessons available because you get the most optimal student to instructor class ratio. We use a part of the beach that is safe and perfect for surfing even if you have never been on a surfboard before.

Q: Are there any age restrictions for the surf lesson?

A: The lessons are great for kids ages 6 and up. They adjust their teaching style to fit the child's age and comfort level. If your kid's under 6, they might not have the strength or coordination yet, but younger siblings can definitely come along to watch!

Q: What happens if the weather is bad on the day of the lesson?

A: If the weather's really bad, they’ll usually contact you a few hours before the lesson to reschedule. Safety’s their priority. Just check your email or the contact number you provided.

Q: What should kids wear for the surf lesson?

A: They provide wetsuits, so kids just need a swimsuit underneath. I’d suggest bringing a towel and some sunscreen too, especially if it’s sunny out. It's also good to wear something comfy for after the lesson.

Excited for my kid's first surf lesson at Venice Beach!

I just booked a surf lesson for my 8-year-old at Golden Wave Surf School. I’m super nervous but also really excited! I’ve heard that they get kids up on the board within the first couple of hours, which sounds amazing. The location at Venice Beach looks beautiful too! I'm hoping it goes well, but I’d love any tips from others who have done this before.
