Q&A

Q: Can you reschedule if the weather doesn't cooperate?

A: Yes, you can definitely reschedule if the weather's bad! Lanz is super flexible and usually tries to find another day that works for both of you. Just make sure to contact him as soon as you know there's a chance of rain or rough conditions so you can get a new date set up without issues.

Q: What's the age limit for this experience?

A: There’s no strict age limit! However, Lanz recommends that participants be at least 12 years old since you need some prior surf experience. It’s best to check with him if you’re bringing younger kids, just to see if they’d be comfortable in the surf environment.

Q: What should I wear for this experience? Any tips?

A: Definitely wear a swimsuit under your wetsuit! Lanz provides the wetsuits, but you’ll be way more comfortable if you’ve got your own gear underneath. Also, flip flops or sandals are great for getting to the beach, and don't forget sunscreen, even if it's cloudy!

Thinking of gifting the Surf Like a Local experience!

Hey everyone! So I’m considering getting this experience for my brother’s birthday. He’s surfed a bit but never really had the chance to hang out with locals. I love that Lanz provides the board and wetsuit, and I heard the snacks at the end are killer! Would this be a good gift for someone who’s somewhat experienced but not a pro? Any tips?

Just got back from the Surf Like a Local experience!

I just did the Surf Like a Local experience in La Jolla with Lanz, and wow, it was awesome! The waves were perfect, and Lanz really knows how to make everyone feel comfortable in the water. The meditation on the beach was such a chill way to start off too. Plus, the snacks at the end? 10/10. If you’re on the fence about it, just go for it!
