Q&A

Q: Is there a weight limit for the surfing lesson?

A: There isn't a strict weight limit, but if you're over 250 lbs, it might be a good idea to call the Santa Barbara Adventure Company beforehand. They can give you advice on the best boards for your size. Also, just remember that getting up on the board takes some practice, so don’t get discouraged if it takes a few tries!

Q: What happens if it rains or the waves are too rough?

A: If the weather isn't safe for surfing, the Santa Barbara Adventure Company will usually reschedule your lesson. They'll contact you in advance if there’s a possible cancellation. So no worries, just keep your schedule flexible!

Q: What should I wear for the surfing lesson?

A: You'll want to wear something comfortable that you can move in. The company provides wetsuits based on your size, which is great! Just make sure to bring a swimsuit to wear under the wetsuit. Also, don't forget sunscreen for your face, even if it's cloudy!

Thinking of gifting a surfing lesson in Santa Barbara!

Hey everyone! I’m considering getting a surfing lesson for my sister’s birthday at Mondo's Beach. She’s never surfed before, and I think it could be an awesome experience. It’s 2 hours long with a pro instructor, and the Santa Barbara Adventure Company sounds legit. Has anyone done this? Any tips or thoughts?

Just booked a surfing lesson for my dad!

So I finally pulled the trigger and booked the surfing lesson for my dad’s 60th birthday at Mondo's Beach! He’s always wanted to try surfing but never has. I’m a bit worried about how he’ll do since he's not super athletic, but I heard the instructors are really good with beginners. Anyone have experiences with older folks doing this?
