The Taste of Hawthorne walking food and farm tour is designed for foodies by foodies. You’ll experience one of Portland's most eclectic and historic neighborhoods, just 10 minutes from downtown, and taste your way around the world right here in Portland from lunch to late-night bites and specialty sips. The food tour takes place on SE Hawthorne Blvd which is a quintessential Portland street lined with vintage shops, boutiques, hat stores, record stores, cafés and food from here and around the world. It’s ripe with global fare made with local ingredients. You'll learn our local history while enjoying the curated menu and you’ll meet the owners and chefs behind it all. Vegetarians and gluten-freers have their own curated menus and we can also accommodate people who don’t drink alcohol or like spicy food. You'll also have the unique opportunity to tour a backyard urban farm with fruit and nut trees, berries, veggies and the Chicken Schitts - Moira, Twyla, Alexis and Stevie.

Q&A

Q: What's the age limit for this food tour? Can kids join?

A: Great question! Kids are definitely welcome on the tour. Just keep in mind that some of the food and drinks might not be suitable for younger kids, but there are usually options for them. It’s a fun way for families to explore the area together—and the backyard farm is a hit with all ages!

Q: What should I wear for the Taste of Hawthorne tour? Is it casual?

A: Casual and comfy is the way to go! Since it’s a walking tour, wear shoes that you can walk in easily. You might want to layer up since Portland weather can be unpredictable. And don't forget a light jacket, especially if you’re going in the evening. It can get a bit chilly!

Q: Is it possible to reschedule if I can’t make my tour date?

A: Yes, you can reschedule if you give them a heads up! Just reach out to the provider at least 48 hours ahead of your original tour time, and they’ll help you find another date that works. I had to do this once, and they were super accommodating.

Just did the Taste of Hawthorne tour—what an experience!

I went on the Taste of Hawthorne tour last weekend and it was amazing! We tried dishes from a few different places along SE Hawthorne Blvd. The urban farm was such a cool stop, especially meeting the chickens! I went with a friend who’s gluten-free, and they had plenty of options for her. Highly recommend this for anyone looking to explore Portland’s food scene!

Thinking of gifting the Taste of Hawthorne tour—worth it?

I’m looking for a unique gift for my foodie friend who lives in Portland. Has anyone done the Taste of Hawthorne tour? I love the idea of combining food tastings with a bit of local history. Would you say it’s worth the price?
