Since 2004, Louisville Historic Tours offers the ORIGINAL guided walks of Old Louisville. This recent addition to our line-up is unique in that it is always guided by our founder and local writer, David Dominé, himself! Because of the success of his recent true-crime memoir, A DARK ROOM IN GLITTER BALL CITY, throngs of visitors have been flocking our way to check out the sites featured in the story, which reviewers have referred to as "the next Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." This narrated jaunt through Old Louisville provides the perfect opportunity for fans to spend time with the author while learning about his writing process and inspirations. Included in this adventure are a visit inside the stunning Conrad-Caldwell Mansion, as well a welcome cocktail and souvenirs. Each participant also receives an autographed, personalized copy of the book, in addition to a sweet treat. The group size is kept small, so sign up now and reserve your spot for when David is in town!

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for this tour? Can kids come along?

A: The tour is primarily geared towards adults, especially since it includes alcoholic beverages. However, older teens are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Just make sure they understand the content could be mature since it's based on a true-crime story!

Q: What's the format of the tour? How much walking is involved?

A: The tour lasts about 2-3 hours, depending on the group size and questions. You'll do a fair amount of walking, but it's all at a leisurely pace. The guide, David, makes plenty of stops to share stories and insights, plus you get to visit the Conrad-Caldwell Mansion, which is really cool!

Q: What's the parking situation like near the tour starting point?

A: There’s street parking available around Old Louisville, but it can be tricky during busy times. I'd recommend arriving early to find a spot. Alternatively, there are some paid lots nearby if you don’t want to stress about parking.

Has anyone done the Glitter Ball City Walking Tour? What's it like?

I’m thinking about gifting this tour to my friend who loves true crime and books. I heard David Dominé leads it himself! Is it really worth it? What’s it like to meet him? Are the cocktails good? Any tips about the experience would help!

Thinking of going to the Glitter Ball Tour, but worried about the weather!

I really want to do the walking tour, but I’ve heard Louisville’s weather can be unpredictable. What happens if it rains? Are they good about rescheduling? I don’t want to miss out on this experience, especially for the signed book!
