Q&A

Q: Are there any age restrictions for this hike? I'm thinking of gifting it to my teenage kids.

A: It's suitable for all ages, but younger kids might need some encouragement on the trails. The hike is fairly easy, but keep in mind that some areas can be steep. I'd recommend bringing a water bottle and some snacks to keep everyone energized!

Q: What’s the best time of year for this hike? I want to make sure we get good views.

A: Spring and early fall are the best times! The weather is usually mild, and you'll see beautiful blooms in the Presidio. Just check the forecast beforehand since fog can roll in quickly, especially in summer.

Q: Is parking easy to find near the Presidio for this hike?

A: Parking can be tricky, especially on weekends. There are some lots near the Main Post, but they fill up fast. I recommend getting there early or using public transit if you can! It’s also a nice way to avoid parking stress.

Just did the Presidio hike, and wow!

I just got back from the Presidio hike to the Golden Gate Bridge with Urban Hiker SF, and it was amazing! Our guide was super knowledgeable about the history, and we got to see the Andy Goldsworthy artworks. The view from the San Francisco National Cemetery Overlook was breathtaking. Seriously, if you’re thinking about it as a gift, go for it! Perfect for anyone who loves nature and history!

Thinking of gifting the Presidio hike for my mom's birthday!

My mom loves to hike, and I think this would be a perfect gift. The idea of walking through the Presidio and seeing the Golden Gate sounds so cool! But I’m worried about the weather. Is it often foggy there? Should I get her some good hiking gear?
