Q&A
A: There's no strict age limit, but kids need to be able to skate independently or have a parent close by to help them. The rink can get pretty crowded, so I'd recommend around 5 or 6 years old as a good starting age, with the ability to hold onto the side if they need to. Just make sure they’re dressed warmly!
A: If the weather is really bad, they may close the rink for safety. In that case, you can usually reschedule your skate time without any issues. Just be sure to check their website for updates or give them a call. I had to reschedule once, and it was a smooth process!
A: If you can swing it, weekdays early in the morning or late afternoon tend to be less crowded. Many tourists come mid-day, especially on weekends. I went at 8 am on a Friday and had the rink almost to myself for a while! Also, you get to enjoy the morning light around the tree.

Thinking of gifting my girlfriend a skate session at Rockefeller Center!
Hey everyone! I’m planning to surprise my girlfriend with an ice skating session at Rockefeller Center. We’re both novice skaters but super excited to try it out, especially under that iconic Christmas tree! I’ve seen mixed reviews about the crowd levels, so should I book in advance or just show up? Also, what’s the best time to go? Any tips would be appreciated!
Just got back from skating at Rockefeller Center!
OMG, I just took my family ice skating at Rockefeller Center and it was incredible! The atmosphere was so festive, and skating under that giant tree was a dream come true. We went right at opening on a Saturday and it wasn’t too crowded at all. Just a heads up, wear layers! It’s cold on the ice but pretty warm once you’re off. Totally recommend this for anyone looking to soak in some NYC holiday vibes!
