Experience the beauty of Resurrection Bay, its abundant marine life, and beautiful glacial vistas on this Seward kayaking excursion from Lowell Point. On this trip, we paddle the shoreline of Resurrection Bay, where encounters with sea otters, sea birds, bald eagles, and leaping salmon are common. Our day will include a paddle along the coastline and walking through a temperate rain forest. We’ll explore Tonsina Point with its ghost forest, late-season salmon stream, and beautiful mountain views from its beach. Enjoy a picnic lunch and possibly a visit to a waterfall. Participants must be 8 years old and a minimum of 50 lb to participate. Paddlers over 6'4" or 250 lb will not fit in our kayaks.

Q&A

Q: What's the weight limit for the kayaks on this tour?

A: The weight limit for each kayak is 250 lbs, so if you're over that, you might need to look into other options. Also, if you're taller than 6'4", you won't fit in the kayaks either. Make sure to check those measurements before you book!

Q: What if the weather is bad on the day of our tour?

A: If the weather is really bad, the tour might get canceled for safety reasons. They usually give you a heads up the day before or the morning of if conditions aren't good. You can reschedule for another day, so don’t worry too much!

Q: Is this experience good for younger kids?

A: It's great for kids aged 8 and up, as long as they weigh at least 50 lbs. It's a fun way to get them outdoors and exploring nature! Just make sure they’re comfortable in a kayak and can paddle a bit. It’s not overly difficult, so younger teens should be fine too.

Is Tonsina Point Kayak the best way to see Seward's wildlife?

I just booked the Tonsina Point Kayak tour for next month, and I'm super excited! I've heard you get to see otters and eagles up close, plus there's a picnic included. I’m hoping we get lucky and see some whales too! Has anyone else done this? What should I expect in terms of difficulty? I’m a total beginner.

Tips for the Tonsina Point Kayak Tour

Just got back from the Tonsina Point tour and had an amazing time! The coastline is beautiful, and we saw so many sea birds and otters. Don’t forget to wear something you don’t mind getting wet. Also, the picnic lunch was a nice surprise! Anyone planning on going, you won’t regret it.
