Q&A
A: Yes, there are weight restrictions for the DeHavilland Beaver floatplanes, primarily for safety and balance. It's best to call Island Wings directly to discuss your specific situation, but generally, they accommodate passengers up to around 250 lbs. Just make sure to reserve your spot in advance and mention any concerns!
A: The best time for bear viewing at Traitors Cove is typically from mid-July through September. This is when bears are most active, especially as they gather at the streams to fish. You can also enjoy the stunning Alaskan scenery during this time, so it's perfect for photographers!
A: Alaska's weather can be unpredictable, so it's always a good idea to check the forecast close to your tour date. If there are adverse conditions, Island Wings will do their best to let you know and may reschedule or offer a refund. Just make sure to keep your schedule flexible!

Just booked the Traitors Cove Bear Viewing! Excited!
I just snagged a spot for the bear viewing tour with Island Wings and I'm SO pumped! I mean, who wouldn’t want to see bears in their natural habitat while flying over the gorgeous Alaskan coastline? I went for the early September slot since I heard it’s prime bear season. Fingers crossed for some awesome pics! Has anyone done this and can share their experience?
Planning to gift the Traitors Cove Bear Viewing experience!
I’m considering this bear viewing tour for my sister’s birthday. She’s obsessed with wildlife and I think this would be epic! Any tips on what to wear or bring? Also, is there a good restaurant nearby for a post-tour meal?
