The upper switchbacks on the Haleakala Downhill are oftenthe most favorite part of the ride --and on this tour we make sure you can enjoy them twice! With full support and a shuttle lift, you can experience the thrill at your own pace. This dormant Haleakala Volcano towers thousands of feet above sea level, offering some of the best views on the island. A van will take you to the starting point, and from there, you’ll ride the upper section two times, soaking in the scenery and adrenaline along the way.

Q: How steep is the ride down Haleakala? I’m worried it might be too intense for my sister.

A: The ride is pretty manageable for most, even if you're not super experienced. The paths are designed to give you a bit of thrill, but you go at your own pace, so if your sister takes it slow, she should be fine! Plus, the guides give you a rundown on how to navigate the tricky bits. Just make sure she’s comfortable riding a bike!

Q: What's the parking situation like at the starting point for the bike ride?

A: There’s parking available at the Haleakala Visitor Center, but it can get packed! I recommend arriving early to snag a spot. Alternatively, the company provides a shuttle, so if you book with them, you won’t have to worry about your vehicle at all.

Q: If it rains, do they cancel the ride? I don’t want to disappoint my boyfriend.

A: They usually assess the weather and make decisions based on safety. If it’s too rainy or unsafe, they’ll likely reschedule. I’d suggest checking the forecast and maybe even calling them just in case! They’re pretty accommodating with rescheduling.
