Enjoy a two-and-a-half-hour adventure on your own private boat. Your Master Captain will guide you safely through the Calibogue on a falling tide to the isle. This mile long sandbar is exposed for only a couple of hours per day, allowing beachcombers the chance to collect sand dollars, seashells and the occasional shark's tooth. We’ll stop along the way to look for wild dolphins playing in the sound. We’ll share information about the island, the salt marsh and the surrounding ecosystem. Your Captain is also a Lowcountry Master Naturalist, and will assist you in identifying the various shells, mollusks and other invertebrates to be found on this tour! This is an ideal outing for families and small groups. With up to 6 passengers, there’s plenty of room onboard and a comfortable seat for everyone.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on the beachcomber tour?

A: There’s no official age limit, but I took my kids (ages 6, 8, and 11) and they absolutely loved it! The captain is super accommodating and there’s enough space for little ones to move around safely. Just make sure they’re wearing life jackets and sunscreen, as it can get sunny out there!

Q: What should we wear for the beachcomber tour?

A: Definitely wear comfy clothes and a hat! I’d suggest flip flops or water shoes since you'll be walking on sand. Sunscreen is a must, and maybe a light jacket if you’re going in the morning when it’s cooler. The captain has life jackets for you, so there's no need to bring your own.

Q: How many people can fit on the boat? Is it crowded?

A: The boat can fit up to 6 passengers, and it never felt cramped! My family of 5 was on there with plenty of room to move around. Everyone has their own comfy seat, and the captain makes it a relaxed vibe. It’s perfect for small groups or families!

Just booked the Vanishing Mile Isle Beachcomber Tour!

I’m super excited! I just booked this tour for my family next month. We’re all about beachcombing and the chance to see dolphins sounds amazing! I heard the captain knows a ton about the local ecosystem, which will be great for the kids. Do you think we should bring anything special besides sunscreen?

Can’t stop thinking about our beachcomber tour last week!

OMG, we had the best time on the Vanishing Mile tour! The captain was super knowledgeable and pointed out so many cool things. We found sand dollars and a shark's tooth! The dolphins were swimming next to us too, it felt magical. Highly recommend this as a gift for anyone who loves the outdoors.
