Vigilance Tours is unlike other tours With 25 years of working knowledge of Arlington National Cemetery, the Pentagon, Congress, and DC – Eric Hommel (Lt Col, USAF (retired)) is the only Cemetery guide who goes beyond the facts and figures and discusses the stories behind the facts and figures The tour is interactive – by getting to know you, Eric strives to make the tour meaningful while maintaining the reverence of Arlington National Cemetery In order to get to know each other, we limit the size of the tour group to a max of 12 visitors No subject is totally off limits – Eric is happy to discuss most topics (history, politics, military decisions, treatment of veterans, etc.) defining those interred at Arlington National Cemetery We will not rush you; the tour is scheduled for at least 3 hours, if you have less than 3 hours to visit the Cemetery we recommend shorter tours with other companies Eric is the author of: THE LOSING GAME: HOW TO LOSE A WAR AND FAIL VETERANS (Amazon)

Q&A

Q: Is there a specific age limit for kids on this tour?

A: There isn't a strict age limit, but I’d recommend it for kids 12 and up. Eric does a fantastic job engaging with visitors, but younger kids might not grasp the depth of the discussion. However, if they're interested in history, they could enjoy it!

Q: What should we wear for this walking tour? Any recommendations?

A: Comfortable shoes are a must since you'll be walking a lot! Dress in layers because it can get warm, but parts of the cemetery might be shaded and cooler. Smart casual is a good bet; it keeps it respectful while being comfy.

Q: What happens if the weather is bad? Is there a cancellation policy?

A: If the weather is really bad, Eric may reschedule the tour. He’s pretty flexible with this, and you can usually work something out if it doesn't work for you. Just make sure to check the forecast and keep in touch with him in case of changes!

Thinking of gifting the Arlington Cemetery Walking Tour!

I’m considering this tour for my dad’s birthday next month! He’s a huge history buff and I think he’d appreciate Eric’s background. The fact that it’s a smaller group sounds appealing too! Has anyone done this recently? How was your experience? Any tips?

Just did the Arlington National Cemetery tour and wow!

I went on the tour last weekend, and it was incredible! Eric really knows his stuff and makes history come alive. It's super respectful, yet so engaging. I'll definitely recommend it to friends. Just a heads up, wear comfy shoes—you'll need ‘em for all the walking!
