Q&A
A: Definitely wear comfortable shoes! The park can be muddy, especially near the lava tubes and steam vents. I'd suggest lightweight clothes but also a light jacket, as it can get a bit chilly near the crater. Just be prepared for varying weather since it can change quickly!
A: Yes! Kids are welcome on the tour, and there’s no strict age limit. Just keep an eye on younger ones since some parts near the volcano can be a bit tricky. It’s a great way for families to explore the park together!
A: If you're staying in Hilo, it's super convenient! They offer pick-up from your hotel or the airport, so you won't need to worry about parking. Just confirm your location with them when you book. If you do drive, there are parking areas near the starting point, but it can fill up quickly!

Just did the Volcano National Park tour! So worth it!
I recently went on the Volcano National Park tour in Hilo and wow, it was amazing! The Rainbow Falls were absolutely breathtaking and the history of the park is fascinating. Our guide was super knowledgeable, which made the experience even better. We got to walk through the Thurston Lava Tube and feel the steam from the vents—such a unique experience! I also have to mention the chocolates we sampled at Big Island Candies; they were delicious! Can't recommend this enough!
Thinking of gifting the Volcano tour, any thoughts?
I'm considering gifting this Volcano National Park tour to my parents for their anniversary. They love nature and history! I’m just concerned about the logistics—like, will they be able to handle the walking? They’re in their late 60s. Anyone else have experience with older folks on this tour?
