An incredible hike at Volcanoes National Park. We will start at the Kilauea Visitor Center and boasts magnificent views of the Kilauea Iki Crater. The approximately 8 mile loop takes you through a field of steams vents into a native Hawaiian forest. We will then enter the actual crater itself, and the hike concludes with the iconic Thurston Lava Tube, one of the park's most popular attractions.

Q&A

Q: Are there any age restrictions for the Volcanoes National Park hike?

A: There's no strict age limit, but the hike is about 8 miles and can be pretty challenging. It’s best for kids who are at least 10 years old and can handle some rough terrain. Just keep in mind, younger kids might get tired, and you want to ensure they can walk the whole loop. The guides are really good about pacing, though!

Q: What's the best time of year to do this hike?

A: The best time for this hike is from April to October. The weather is usually drier then, which makes for better hiking conditions. If you go in the winter months, be prepared for rain and mud. But honestly, if you don’t mind a little wet, the scenery is still beautiful!

Q: What should I wear for the Volcanoes National Park hike?

A: Definitely wear good hiking shoes! You'll encounter some rocky and uneven terrain. I'd recommend lightweight, moisture-wicking clothes since you’ll get sweaty. Bring a light jacket for when you're in shaded areas. Lastly, don’t forget a hat and sunscreen, the sun can be intense, even in the forest!

Just booked the Volcanoes National Park hike! Excited!

I finally snagged a spot for the guided hike in Volcanoes National Park! I've always wanted to see the Thurston Lava Tube and hike around Kilauea. The fact that they provide backpacks and lunch is a huge plus for me! Just curious, does anyone have tips for first-timers on this kind of hike? Can't wait to see the steam vents and the crater!

Is the Volcanoes hike good for older folks?

Hey guys, I'm thinking about gifting this experience to my parents who are in their late 60s. They love nature but aren’t super fit. Do you think they can handle the 8-mile hike? How's the terrain? Any thoughts?
