Q&A

Q: What's the best time to book this experience if I want to see bears?

A: The best time to book this experience is definitely from late July to August, when the salmon are running and the brown bears are out in full force. I've been on this trip, and we saw so many bears! Just keep in mind that while sightings are highly likely, they aren't guaranteed. Booking early is a good idea since spots fill up fast in peak season.

Q: Are there any age restrictions for this experience?

A: Yes, there is an age restriction. Participants must be at least 12 years old due to the nature of the hiking and safety considerations. However, younger children who are really into wildlife might be able to join with parental supervision. Just check with the provider for specifics!

Q: If it rains, will the experience still go ahead?

A: Yes, the experience typically goes on rain or shine! They provide rain gear, so you’ll be covered. Just dress in layers because it can get chilly. Personally, I went when it drizzled, and it was still amazing to see the bears! Just prepare for some mud on the trail.

Just did the Waterfall Creek bear viewing tour—what an adventure!

I just got back from the bear viewing trip at Waterfall Creek, and wow, it blew my mind! The floatplane ride from Juneau was breathtaking, and once we landed, the scenery was unreal. We spotted several brown bears right away! The guide was super knowledgeable and made sure we had the best spots for photos. Definitely pack snacks; they provided a good lunch, but having extras is a must when you're out in the wild. Highly recommend this to anyone!

Considering this as a gift for my dad—any advice?

I’m thinking about getting the Waterfall Creek bear viewing experience for my dad’s birthday. He loves nature but isn’t super outdoorsy. Do you think he'd enjoy it? What should I consider when gifting this? I want it to be special!
