Q&A
A: The best time to go whale watching in Depoe Bay is generally from late March through October, with peek activity around June. You’ll likely see gray whales migrating, and there are opportunities to spot humpbacks and orcas too. Just remember to dress in layers since it can get chilly out on the water!
A: There are no strict age limits for the tour, but kids under 12 should be accompanied by an adult. It’s a family-friendly experience, and everyone I saw on the tour seemed to enjoy it. Just make sure your kids can handle a few hours in the vehicle and on the boat!
A: The tour includes a ride in an air-conditioned vehicle with bottled water provided. You'll get to see Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock, which are stunning! Plus, you’ll have a chance to stop by Tillamook Creamery for some ice cream or cheese tasting - that's a great bonus.

Thinking of gifting the Whale Watching tour, anyone done it?
I’m considering this whale watching tour from Portland as a birthday gift for my partner. The idea of seeing whales in Depoe Bay sounds amazing! I saw that it includes stops at Cannon Beach and Tillamook Creamery, which we both love. Has anyone done this yet? How's the parking situation in Portland before the tour?
Just got back from the whale watching tour and it was epic!
OMG, I just did the whale watching tour from Portland to Depoe Bay last weekend! It was such a blast! We saw like 5 or 6 gray whales, plus the scenery along the coast was breathtaking! The stop at Tillamook Creamery was the cherry on top. I highly recommend this if you’re looking for a fun day trip!
