Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the whale watching experience?

A: There's no specific age limit for the whale watching experience from Ma'alaea Harbor, but it's generally recommended for kids ages 3 and up. However, they must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Just keep in mind that younger kids might need help with the noise levels of the boat or if they get a little seasick, so be prepared with snacks and maybe some ginger candy for queasy tummies!

Q: What should I wear for the whale watching trip?

A: Dress in layers! Even though it’s warm in Maui, it can get chilly out on the water. I recommend a light jacket or sweater, especially if you’re going early in the morning. Also, wear comfortable shoes because you’ll be moving around the boat, and don't forget sunscreen and a hat. If you're prone to seasickness, it might be a good idea to avoid heavy meals before boarding too.

Q: What happens if the weather is bad? Can we reschedule?

A: If the weather's terrible and the trip is canceled, you can easily reschedule for another day. The Pacific Whale Foundation is pretty flexible with this, just give them a call or check the website for rescheduling options. They usually notify you if there’s a cancellation, so you won’t be left in the dark. It’s always best to check the forecast and plan accordingly if you can.

Just went whale watching from Ma'alaea Harbor - what an experience!

I just got back from the whale watching experience with Pacific Whale Foundation and wow, it was incredible! We saw so many humpback whales breaching and even a mom with her calf. The marine naturalists were super knowledgeable, and I learned so much about their behavior. The boat left right from Ma'alaea Harbor and the atmosphere was so relaxed. Definitely recommend this as a gift for anyone who loves nature!

Thinking about gifting the whale watching experience - need advice!

I'm considering this whale watching trip from Ma'alaea Harbor for my sister's birthday. She loves the ocean and whales! I just want to make sure it's worth the price and if it really has guaranteed sightings? Any tips for making it extra special as a gift?
