Q&A

Q: What's the best time of year for whale watching in Monterey?

A: The prime time for whale watching in Monterey Bay is from April to November. During this period, you can see Humpback whales, Gray whales, and even Blue whales. Early summer is especially good for Humpbacks, while the fall often brings a diverse range of wildlife. Plus, you might catch dolphins and sea otters too!

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on this whale watching trip?

A: Yes, there is no strict age limit, but kids should be at least 4 years old to enjoy the trip safely. Make sure they can sit quietly and wear the inflatable life jackets provided. Adults will need to supervise younger kids closely, but it’s a fantastic experience for family outings!

Q: What should we wear for the whale watching trip?

A: Dress in layers! It can get chilly on the water, especially if you’re going early in the morning or later in the day. A windbreaker and comfortable shoes are key. Don't forget a hat and sunglasses to protect against the sun. It’s a good idea to bring along a light rain jacket just in case!

Just got back from the Monterey Whale Watching! What an experience!

I took the semi-private whale watching tour with Ocean Safaris and it was unforgettable! We saw two humpback whales and a pod of dolphins playing alongside the boat. The small group of only 6 people made it feel so special. The crew was super knowledgeable and made sure we were comfortable. If anyone’s thinking about gifting this experience, DO IT! Worth every penny, though I’d recommend bringing a camera!

Considering the Whale Watching trip as a gift for my parents!

My parents love the ocean but have never been on a whale watching tour. I'm thinking this semi-private trip would be perfect for them. Has anyone given this as a gift? What was their reaction? Also, is there a specific time of year you’d recommend for an optimal experience?
