Clear Creek is one of the best whitewater rafting rivers in Colorado, and for great reasons. The canyon offers all levels of whitewater challenge, and easy access. The setting includes scenic flats, mining ruins, wildlife, and, of course, exciting whitewater flowing over rocks. This trip is your chance to participate in an unusually challenging raft trip close to Denver, Breckenridge, Silverthorne, Dillon, and Winter Park. Canyon scenery is dramatic, and adrenaline will be high! Nearby is Idaho Springs, where the gold rush began. Founded in 1859, this quaint town is nestled in the foothills of some of Colorado’s best mountains and holds a unique place in the state’s history. As the place where the Colorado Gold Rush started, this little town holds a lot of secrets, including one of the best river rafting areas in the state! The season for advanced rafting on Clear Creek is normally June and July, but is dependent on water flows.

Q&A

Q: What's the age limit for this whitewater rafting experience?

A: The age limit for the Advanced Gold Rush section on Clear Creek is typically 15 years and older. It's important to have some prior rafting experience, especially for this challenging section. If you're considering it as a gift, make sure the recipient is comfortable with intense rapids!

Q: What should I wear for the rafting trip?

A: Wear something you don't mind getting wet! The provider includes wetsuits, which is great. I'd suggest wearing a swimsuit underneath, water shoes (or old sneakers), and if it's chilly, maybe a light long-sleeve shirt. Don't forget sunscreen!

Q: Is there a chance they cancel due to weather?

A: Yes, they might cancel if the weather is unsafe, especially if there are high water levels or lightning. They usually do their best to reschedule, so it’s a good idea to check with them closer to the date. Keep an eye on the forecast!

Thinking about gifting the Advanced Gold Rush rafting experience!

Hey everyone! I’m thinking about gifting the Advanced Gold Rush whitewater rafting trip on Clear Creek to my brother for his birthday. He loves adventure and I know this section is supposed to be super thrilling. What do you think? Anyone done it? I just want to make sure it’s worth it and that he’ll have the right experience!

Anyone else nervous about the difficulty level?

So, I’m considering this trip for myself and a couple of friends. I’ve never done advanced rafting before, and I’m kinda nervous about the rapids. Are they really as crazy as they say? What if I freak out? Any advice from those who’ve been through the Gold Rush section?
