Clear Creek is one of the best whitewater rafting rivers in Colorado, and for great reasons. The canyon offers all levels of whitewater challenge, and easy access. The setting includes scenic flats, mining ruins, wildlife, and, of course, exciting whitewater flowing over rocks. Nearby is Idaho Springs, where the gold rush began. It is the first city founded in Colorado, in 1859. This quaint town is nestled in the foothills of some of Colorado’s best mountains and holds a unique place in the state’s history. As the place where the Colorado Gold Rush started, this little town holds a lot of secrets, including one of the best river rafting areas in the State! Conveniently located about 30 minutes west of Denver, and close to Breckenridge, Silverthorne, Dillon, and Winter Park, Clear Creek has rafting trip options for varying ability and experience levels.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the Clear Creek whitewater rafting experience?

A: Yes, for the Intermediate Cannonball Run, participants usually need to be at least 12 years old. They should also be able to swim well since it's more challenging. It might be good for families, but just check with Colorado Adventure Guides for specifics since they can provide the latest on any restrictions or recommendations.

Q: What should we wear for the rafting trip? Is it cold in the water?

A: I recommend wearing a swimsuit and bringing quick-dry clothes. The water can be pretty chilly, so a wetsuit might be a good idea, especially in early spring. The guides provide all safety gear, but being comfortable is key since you'll get soaked during the run!

Q: What if the weather is bad on the day of the rafting trip? Can we reschedule?

A: Absolutely! Colorado Adventure Guides prioritizes safety, so if the weather looks dangerous, they’ll help you reschedule. Just call them ahead of time. They’re super flexible and want you to have a great experience.
