Q&A
A: There's no strict age limit for the Whitney Plantation tour, but I'd recommend it for kids aged 12 and up. The content can be pretty heavy and might not resonate with younger kids. However, if you're with a teen who’s interested in history, they’d really appreciate the stories shared during the tour.
A: Parking is pretty straightforward! There’s a dedicated parking lot right at the plantation. Just make sure you arrive early, especially on weekends — it can get busy. If you’re driving from New Orleans, it's about a 45-minute drive, so plan accordingly!
A: You’ll want to dress comfortably! The tour has both indoor and outdoor components, so layers are a good idea. Since you’ll be walking around outside, wear sturdy shoes. Also, check the weather — if it’s a hot day, bring a hat and sunscreen!

Considering the Whitney Plantation tour — is it worth it?
I’m thinking about gifting a tour at Whitney Plantation to my sister who loves history. I've heard it’s a powerful experience. Can anyone who's gone recently share what they thought? The stories about the enslaved people really resonate, but I’m curious if the audio tour is engaging enough. Also, how long did you spend there?
Whitney Plantation trip report!
Just got back from the Whitney Plantation and wow, what an eye-opening experience! The slave quarters were haunting yet beautifully preserved. The live statues were particularly impactful. I was shocked to learn about the history of the largest slave rebellion here. If you’re considering it, definitely go! Just prepare for some heavy topics. Worth every dollar, and I’m not even kidding!
