Q&A
A: There's no specific age limit for the Whitney Plantation Tour, but it's definitely more suitable for older kids (maybe 10+) who can handle the history and content. They should also be able to walk around for the self-guided tour. If you have younger kids, it might be a bit much for them, especially the themes discussed during the tour.
A: The tour will proceed rain or shine! The self-guided tour allows you to explore the plantation and museum at your own pace, so you’ll be mostly outdoors. If the weather is really bad, they may provide umbrellas or reschedule you for another day.
A: If you drive yourself, there's free parking available at the plantation. It’s pretty spacious, but I’d recommend arriving a bit early to grab a good spot. The tour starts promptly, so you don't want to rush. Plus, it gives you time to grab a snack from the cafe before heading in.

Just booked the Whitney Plantation tour for my parents' anniversary!
I'm really excited to gift my parents the Whitney Plantation Tour while they're in New Orleans! The round trip pickup is perfect for them since they're not great at driving in a new city. I heard the self-guided tour lasts about 1 hour and 15 minutes, and I'm hoping they enjoy the museum afterwards. Any tips on what they should wear? I'm kind of nervous but hopeful they'll love it!
Just got back from the Whitney Plantation tour – wow!
I went on the Whitney Plantation Tour last week, and it was incredible! The drive was nice with a cool driver who played jazz the whole way. The plantation itself was so educational and eye-opening. The self-guided part let me take my time and soak in everything. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about history in a beautiful setting!
