The Colorado River is our favorite family-friendly rafting trip. This section of the Colorado River offers scenic views including meadows, valleys, rolling ranch lands and steep canyon walls with wildlife including bald eagles, deer, beavers, and big horn sheep - always something to see. Upper Colorado River Rafting provides mild Class I-II rapids and occasional Class III rapids at higher water flow. Beginning as snowmelt high in Rocky Mountain National Park, the \ Rockies give birth to the legendary Colorado River. Downstream of the Park, the river intensifies through the famed Class 5 “Gore Canyon”, but below, the river gentles where our Colorado River Rafting trips begin. An introduction to white water rafting for families with small children and grandparents, any group looking for a scenic Colorado adventure will enjoy this raft trip. We are proudly a smaller operation offering intimate Colorado adventures. Our raft guides are highly trained, experienced, and State certified.

Q&A

Q: What's the age limit for kids on this rafting trip?

A: Kids as young as 4 can join this trip! It’s super family-friendly, and the guides make sure everyone has a blast while keeping safety first. Just make sure they’re comfortable with the mild rapids, but honestly, this is a great intro for little ones! Bring some snacks and water for them.

Q: What do you wear for the Colorado River rafting?

A: Definitely wear a swimsuit or quick-dry clothes, and don't forget a hat and sunscreen! They provide splash gear, so you won’t get soaked in the cool parts of the river. I also recommend water shoes or sandals that strap on securely.

Q: How's the parking situation at the meeting place in Vail?

A: Parking can be a bit tricky during peak season, but there are public lots nearby that charge a small fee. Arriving early is a good idea! If you’re coming with a group, carpooling is a great option, too. Also, check with the guides; they sometimes offer shuttle services from certain spots.

Thinking of gifting the Colorado River rafting experience!

I’m considering this full-day float trip for my sister's family. They’ve never been rafting before, and I think it would be such a fun adventure! I love that it’s suitable for kids and looks super scenic with all those views. Can anyone share their thoughts or experiences? What should I expect?

Anyone else nervous about rafting with kids?

I’m really excited about this rafting trip, but I gotta admit, I'm a bit nervous about how my 8-year-old will handle it. She’s adventurous but has never done anything like this. How did your kids deal with the rapids? Any tips?
