You'll learn about the history of NYC and how its subways and their art are part of everyday New York City life. I worked in 2 World Trade Center and have a unique understanding of how the buildings were constructed and what it was like to work there. Many of the pieces of art that you'll see are museum worthy and fun to look at, but most people just walk by them and don't notice them at all. We'll go through the newly created Fulton Mall transportation center and you'll see how New Yorkers navigate the complex network of subways that made lower Manhattan the financial capital of the world!

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on this tour? I want to bring my 10-year-old daughter.

A: There's no strict age limit, but I'd say it's great for kids who can appreciate art and history. My 11-year-old loved it! Just keep in mind the underground setting; younger kids might need some supervision in crowded spots. As long as she's curious about NYC, I think she'll have a blast!

Q: What should I wear for the underground tour? Any tips?

A: Comfy shoes are a must since you'll be doing a lot of walking! The subway can get a little chilly, so layers are a good call. I wore a light jacket and sneakers, which worked perfectly. Just be ready to navigate some stairs and crowds!

Q: Can I reschedule if I can't make the tour? What's the policy?

A: Yes, you can reschedule! Just give Ann a heads up a day in advance, and she’ll work with you to find a new time. I had to change mine last minute and she was super accommodating. Just make sure to check if there are any specific times that are busier than others.

Thinking of gifting the Underground Art and History Tour!

I found this World Trade Center Area Underground Art and History Tour and I’m really considering it as a gift for my history-loving friend. I think it’s amazing that you get to explore the art and learn about the subway system! The $2.90 fee is super reasonable too. Anyone done this? What was your favorite part?

I just got back from the Underground Art and History Tour in NYC and wow, it was way better than I expected! Ann is super knowledgeable and the stories she shares about the construction of the World Trade Center are just incredible. The artwork was some of the best I've seen! Definitely a unique way to spend a few hours in the city.
