Come aboard Catalina Island's newest semi-submarine, the SS Nautilus, and enjoy a deep sea adventure 1,000 leagues beyond your imagination. The main attraction of this unique vessel allows six feet underwater viewing while staying dry so eager seafarers can get up close and face-to-face with schools of fish anticipating treats fired away from custom designed fish food torpedo buttons. Designed after America's first nuclear powered submarine, the USS Nautilus, the 45-minute journey is the destination itself as our captain and his crew ventures out on an exploratory mission to the undersea gardens of Avalon Bay.

Q&A

Q: Is the semi-submarine tour safe for young kids?

A: Yes, the semi-submarine tour is generally safe for kids. They can stay dry and view the underwater life from the six-foot viewing area. Just be sure to supervise them, as it can get a little bumpy out on the water! Also, the tour is suitable for kids aged 3 and up, so it's a great family activity.

Q: What should we wear for the submarine tour? Will we get wet?

A: You won't get wet at all since you're in a semi-submarine! I'd recommend wearing comfortable clothes and maybe a light jacket since it can be a bit chilly on the water. Don't forget your sunscreen, as well! Just because you're under the surface doesn't mean UV rays don't get through.

Q: What if the weather doesn’t cooperate? Can we reschedule?

A: If the weather doesn't allow for a safe tour, you'll definitely have the option to reschedule. The crew will usually contact you if there's a cancellation, so don’t worry too much! Just make sure to check the cancellation policy on their website or give them a call for specifics.

Thinking about the semi-submarine tour for my boyfriend’s birthday!

I’m looking at booking this Yellow Semi-Submarine Tour of Catalina Island for my boyfriend’s bday. He loves marine life, and I think it’d be such a fun experience! The idea of seeing schools of fish up close sounds amazing. Has anyone done it? What are the views like? Is it worth the price?

Just went on the semi-submarine tour and it was epic!

I took the Yellow Semi-Submarine Tour last week, and OMG it was such a cool experience. We saw SO many fish, and the whole sub was super comfortable. The crew was fun and informative. If you’re thinking about it, just do it! Perfect for all ages.
